1 charged after wounded pit bulls found with drugs, guns in West Pullman

January 13, 2013 (CHICAGO)

Jarcivius Taylor, 28, faces a series of charges, including aggravated cruelty to animals and bail violations.

Officers recovered a male pit bull and a female pit bull and say both had injuries consistent with dog fighting.

The female was so injured that authorities say she might have to be euthanized. Police said he was emaciated with scarring on the head and neck and a deformed leg.

Police said the male pitbull was also mistreated and underweight.

Along with the animals, police found an assault rife, ammunition, a 12 gauge shotgun, narcotics and more than $1,500 in cash when they arrived at the home.

According to police, Taylor admitted to owning the dogs, but refused to relinquish ownership. The state of Illinois will file a petition to take custody of the animals.

Taylor was expected to appear in bond court over the weekend.
