During a standoff in September, Nathaniel Beller filled the bathtub at his Cicero home with gas then threatened to burn himself and his children to death.
The standoff ended peacefully and Beller was released without charges against the wishes of police.
On December 29, Beller poured accelerant on his girlfriend, daughter and son and lit a fire in his mother's home.
Only the son survived.
He remains in critical condition.
Beller also died in the fire.
