Visitors to Frankfort schools must undergo background checks

January 18, 2013 (CHICAGO)

This comes after the school massacre in Newtown, Connecticut, last month.

The SouthtownStar reports that Frankfort School District 157-C will scan visitors' driver's licenses and do a background check right away beginning Tuesday.

If there is a threat, the system will alert officials.

Doors to all district schools will now be locked and visitors will be buzzed in.

To get a head start, parent organization volunteers can have their IDs scanned into the system Friday, from 1 to 3 p.m at the district office.
