Stomach flu outbreak causes Cook Co. Jail quarantine

An outbreak of the stomach flu has forced the quarantine of a part of Cook County Jail.

Sheriff Tom Dart says Division 2 is being disinfected after several detainees came down with the illness.

Some detainees in the affected unit take part in work programs inside as well as outside of the jail.

that includes the transporting of meals. Officials say steps are being taken to curb the spread of the virus to other inmates as well as staff.
