Brother of poisoned lottery winner raised suspicions

February 11, 2013 (CHICAGO)

Imtiaz Khan is the relative who urged authorities to take another look at Urooj Khan's death.

Khan died in July 2012 before he had a chance to cash a $425,000 lottery check.

Medical examiners initially ruled that he died of natural causes but his brother raised suspicions.

"When I went to pick up the body, I told the medical examiner, 'Sir I don't think he died of natural causes, no, I don't think. Please do more test on him,'" Imtiaz Khan said to ABC7 News.

Urooj Khan's body was exhumed after examiners found cyanide in a blood sample and reclassified his death as a homicide.
