Pedestrian struck when SUV jumps curb outside Saks

NEW YORK

The incident happened just before 11 a.m., when the out-of-control vehicle careened into Saks Fifth Avenue at 49th Street and Fifth Avenue.

The victim was listed in critical but stable condition at Bellevue Hospital.

Authorities said the man was pushed into the front doors of Saks Fifth Avenue by the force of the collision.

The man is expected to survive, but authorities noted his advanced age as being a reason for concern.

He was struck by a silver Ford Escape, with North Carolina license plates, that appeared to collide with another vehicle while southbound on Fifth Avenue and jump the curb, according to police.

No summonses were issued.
