From sunset to sunrise, a peregrine falcon made itself at home on the 45th floor balcony of a North Side high-rise building.

The falcon didn't seem at all camera shy, and spent Saturday into Sunday perched on the balcony before flying off.

Peregrine falcons are becoming more common in the Chicago area. The species was nearly extinct in Illinois until the 1990s, but has been making a comeback thanks to conservation efforts.

There are now around 20 pairs of falcons in the state, according to the Chicago Peregrine Falcon.
