Boeing has plan to get 787s flying again

February 18, 2013 (CHICAGO)

The planes have been grounded because of problems with the lithium batteries.

The Seattle Times says the plan includes putting a heavy-duty steel or titanium box around the battery cells and tubes to vent gases outside of the plane in case of a fire.

Boeing could present the plan to federal regulators by the end of the week.

Boeing hopes it will give the company time to look for a long term solution to the battery problems.
