The single-vehicle crash took place Monday around 7 p.m. in the 27000-block of Wilmot Road in Antioch. Joel Wittkamp, 16, was driving; Ahsley Seay, 17, was in the passenger seat. Both were pronounced dead on the scene.
Lake County sheriff's deputies say their black 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer was traveling westbound on Wilmot from Lake Street in Antioch. The vehicle veered off the road, through a yard and struck a tree. The tree uprooted, landing partially on the Trailblazer, deputies said.
