Cannibal cop jury resumes deliberating fate of Gilberto Valle Monday

The federal jury requested no evidence but did summon more coffee and tea during more than six hours of deliberations Monday. It was considering the fate of Officer Gilberto Valle (VAL'-ee). The 28-year-old officer is on trial on charges that he conspired to kill and eat women he knew, including his wife. He also is accused of illegally accessing a national crime database.

Valle smiled as he spoke with his lawyers after he was briefly brought into court. His mother blew him kisses. His defense lawyers argued during a two-week trial that he only fantasized on the Internet.
