An Illinois Senate committee is betting third time's the charm when it comes to a proposal to expand gambling in Illinois.

Last week, Governor Pat Quinn vetoed one bill. Two days later, the senate executive committee voted to approve a new plan that includes five new casinos and slots at Chicago airports.

That vote came shortly after Governor Quinn's budget address in which he suggested new gaming revenues could go to education and teacher pensions.

Joining us on this edition of NewsViews to discuss this proposal is the sponsor, Democratic State Senator Terry Link, of Waukegan, and Tom Thanas, the city manager of Joliet, which is home to two casinos.
