PHOTOS: Fatal crash on Lake Shore Drive
Two people were killed and two others were critically injured, police say. The injured people were taken to local hospitals.
Officials are trying to determine what led to the crash at 4 a.m. At least three cars were involved. Some witnesses say a wrong-way driver was involved.
Police are detouring southbound traffic off Lake Shore Drive at Belmont. Traffic is backed up for miles. Officials say it will be closed for a couple more hours.
The CTA is rerouting two buses- southbound No. 146 and No. 147- due to the crash.
