The exhibit, which opens Saturday at the Chicago History Museum, is dubbed Inspiring Beauty: 50 Years of Ebony Fashion Fair and features more than 60 high fashion creations. Organizers say it will recreate the experience of the Ebony Fashion Fair through the garments.

The exhibit tells the story of the country's most popular traveling fashion show and the inspirational women behind it. It runs through January 4th, 2014.

Leslie Hindman Auctioneers's upcoming sale will feature a preview of the garments that will be auctioned off starting Tuesday. Clothing from design houses and icons such as as Yves St. Laurent, Oscar de la Renta, Pierre Cardin, Emanuel Ungaro, Christian Lacroix and Patrick Kelly are among those featured.
