Melanoma rate climbs among teens

The number of teenagers diagnosed with the most dangerous form of skin cancer is rising.

The melanoma rate among females ages 15 to 19 doubled from 15 cases per million in 1973 to nearly 30 per million in 2009.

More research is needed to find out what's behind the increase, but too much time in the sun may be a factor.
