Llama rescued from Oregon mud hole

April 3, 2013 (CANBY, Ore.)

This time they had to get a llama out of a mud hole.

"Sergeant Pepper" -- that's the llama's name -- wandered into a mud hole and it took six firefighters to pull the 350-pound animal to safety.

"In Canby we've had a cow fall through a well, horse fall through bridge," said Canby Fire Chief Troy Buzalsky. "In my career, first llama rescue."

The vet said the llama wasn't injured-- just a little sleepy.

"Other than just venturing a little bit off the trail," said veterinarian Mike Harms, "I think it was just an interesting day in a llama's life."
