Researchers at the University of Tokyo studied nearly 37,000 people and found the risk was higher for men who have gone thin on the crown but not so much for those who have a receding hairline.
However, the study also found the risk from being bald is still lower than getting heart disease from smoking or obesity. Health officials say men should still focus on their waistline more than on their hairline.
Researchers say more studies are needed to check a link between baldness and heart disease.
