At approximately 11:30 p.m. Friday, police say the squad car and a vehicle with three people inside collided near Harrison and Laramie.
A witness said the car ran a red light at nearly 80 miles per hour.
"Speeding, coming across the light. He flew in the air, he came down, sparks started flying. He lost control and smacked the police vehicle, and after he hit the police vehicle, he smacked the parked vehicle. After he hit the parked cars, he continued to hit a couple more cars," said Patrice DeJesus.
Fire officials say one person was ejected from the car and died at the scene.
Four other people, including the two police officers, were hurt and taken to hospitals.
There was no immediate word on what caused the crash.
