Anne Smedinghoff, 25, died last Saturday with five other Americans in the deadliest day for U.S. forces in Afghanistan in eight months.
Early reports said Smedinghoff was in an armed convoy when a suicide bomber detonated his explosives. Now, an afghan television reporter says the group was lost while walking from a book-donation event at the time of the attack.
A wake for Smedinghoff will take place Tuesday in suburban Oak Park.
A funeral Mass will follow Wednesday morning at St. Luke Church.
