Dual language programs in suburban schools are becoming more common as educators and parents recognize the benefits of bilingualism stretch beyond communication.

Studies show students who know two languages have better cognitive functioning -- and dual languages programs are the only proven method to close the achievement gap for students who come to school without speaking English.

Whether it's Spanish, Japanese or Chinese, suburban parents are enrolling their students in the increasingly popular bilingual classrooms and seeing great results.
