ComEd wants $6 rate hike

ComEd says it wants to charge about $6 more per month to deliver electricity to utility customers beginning in 2014.

The utility says the proposed hike is the result of higher transmission costs and expenses it has incurred to modernize the electrical grid.

The increase must be approved by the Illinois Commerce Commission.
