The Chicago Tribune reports that older sister Lillian Reyes says the family, which included seven children who all live in Chicago, is "heartbroken."
Mayor Daley issued the following statement on Tuesday:
"Norma Reyes was a wonderful person, kind, giving, always upbeat. She had a fantastic sense of humor and a strong sense of duty to provide opportunities for the less fortunate. A truer friend would be hard to find. I will miss her. "
Reyes served as Business Affairs and Consumer Protection Commissioner.
