Some Chicago-area nurses are celebrating National Nurses Week in a very unique way.

Sixteen nurses from Lurie Children's Hospital chopped off their hair and donated it to Locks of Love.

Each participant had to donate at least 10 inches to meet the requirements.

This is the third year the hospital has hosted the event.

Officials expect to donate more than 160 inches of hair to Locks of Love to make new wigs and hair pieces for cancer patients.
