4 dead, 15 shot in citywide gun violence

On the South Side, a 17-year-old was shot to death Friday night in the Chatham neighborhood, police said.Clifton Barney was found with a gunshot wound to the chest in the in the 7700 block of South Langley Avenue at 7:24 p.m., police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

On the West Side, Ramar Bonner, 40, was found shot to death in the Austin neighborhood Friday night. About 8:05 p.m. police were called to the 200 block of North Mayfield for a report of a man shot. When they arrived they found the man dead with a gunshot wound to the back of his head. Police said an unknown gunman fled the area on foot after the shooting.Also on the West Side, 27-year-old Keith Johnson was shot in the head during an argument with a man on the sidewalk in the 4800 block of West Iowa Street at 3:50 a.m. Saturday, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Saturday night about 9:15 p.m., a shooter or shooters opened fire at a group of people at Ryan Harris Memorial Park, in the South Side Englewood neighborhood, in the 6800 block of South Lowe Street, leaving Shaneda Lawrence, 30, dead from a gunshot wound to the head. Lawrence of the 9600 block of South Peoria Street, was pronounced dead at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County at 12:46 a.m., according to the medical examiner's office. The attack also left a woman in her 20s with a gunshot wound to the wrist, and a 24-year-old man shot in the back. Both were in "stable" condition at area hospitals.

Other non-fatal shootings this weekend include a 50-year-old man who was shot in the face about 2:10 a.m. Sunday in the 300 block of South Cicero Avenue in the Austin neighborhood, police said. He was hospitalized at Mount Sinai Hospital.

A 42-year-old man and 57-year-old woman were shot while sitting in a vehicle when someone walked up to them and started shooting on the Far South Side about 2:20 a.m. on Sunday in the 12000 block of South Lafayette Avenue, police said. The man suffered a graze wound to his wrist and later refused medical treatment. The woman was shot in the lower right leg and taken in "stable" condition to Roseland Hospital, police said.

A 12-year-old boy was wounded in a shooting in the city's Southwest Side Little Village neighborhood. Police said the boy was critically wounded while handling a gun with another child about 3 p.m. in the 2800 block of West 23rd Street. Fire Department officials said the boy had been shot multiple times, and that paramedics took him to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.

A 16-year-old boy, who was not home at the time of the shooting, was charged with misdemeanor reckless conduct for bringing the gun into the residence, police said.

Early Saturday, a 20-year-old man was driven to Mount Sinai Hospital at 3:35 a.m. after being shot in the Humboldt Park neighborhood, police said. The man was a passenger in a vehicle at West Division Street and North Pulaski Road when a group of males begin yelling gang slogans and opened fire. The man was in "stable" condition with a gunshot wound to the shoulder.

Three people were wounded at 11:25 p.m. in the 1200 block of South Kolin Avenue in the West Side Lawndale neighborhood.

A 21-year-old woman was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in grave condition with a gunshot wound to the neck or face, police said. A 38-year-old man was taken in serious condition to Stroger Hospital with a gunshot wound to the back. A 38-year-old woman was taken to Mount Sinai in serious condition with a gunshot wound to the right arm.

About 10:50 p.m., a man was shot multiple times in the West Pullman neighborhood. The 34-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds to the abdomen and backside when a gunman opened fire on him near West 124th Street and South Perry Avenue. The man was listed in serious condition, said police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer, citing preliminary information.

A 16-year-old boy was shot at 10 p.m. Friday in the 5400 block of West Wrightwood Avenue in the Northwest Side Belmont Cragin neighborhood. The boy was walking with several males when a gunman approached on foot and fired shots at the group, police said. The boy was taken in "stable" condition to Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound to the right leg.

Detectives were continuing on Sunday to investigate these shootings.
