All northbound lanes of I-294 between I-88 and I-90 will close at midnight Saturday into Sunday morning for repairs.
On Monday, a dump truck struck the overpass at Balmoral and damaged a bridge support beam. The closure is so workers can remove the damaged beam.
Once it is removed, there will be another closure later this summer when a new one is installed. An Illinois Tollway official says the bridge is structurally stable and poses no risk to drivers.
