New information in the journal Radiology reveals soccer players who head the ball a lot actually show changes in the white matter of their brain.
Experts say what's disturbing here is that it's the same kind of changes seen in traumatic head injuries.
Also, they found those players face a higher risk of developing thinking and memory problems.
But scientists are quick to add they cannot say heading directly caused these changes. That's why they are asking for more research into this area.
