A high school graduate walks across a stage to get his diploma and steps toward a future that he nearly lost.

As he promised he would do, Andolee Perteet rose out of his wheelchair and walked at his graduation from Phillips High.

Perteet was left largely paralyzed when he was hit by errant gunfire two years ago. With his mother's help and profound determination, he continues to improve his mobility, with a goal to one day walk unassisted.

Andolee intends to enroll in college this fall to continue his education and his recovery.
