Skokie mosquito tests positive for West Nile virus

June 19, 2013 (SKOKIE, Ill.)

So far there are no reported human cases yet in Illinois.

The Skokie Health Department says there are precautions that can help eliminate breeding areas and prevent West Nile virus. They include:

  • Cleaning and maintaining catch basins.

  • Changing water in birdbaths and planters once a week.

  • And emptying plastic pools at the end of each say and storing them indoors.
