The severe weather started early afternoon on Tuesday, and led to rain and lightning overnight into Wednesday morning. Some flights are experience delays of up to an hour at O'Hare International Airport. No delays were reported at Midway Airport.

According to the National Weather Service, scattered thunderstorms will strike central Illinois Tuesday afternoon. Some of those storms could be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, large hail, heavy rainfall and lightning.
