Hot air balloons lift spirits for children with brain tumors

July 8, 2013 (FOX RIVER GROVE, Ill.)

Children who've been fighting brain tumors were invited along with their families to enjoy the view, floating in a tethered hot air balloon.

The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation sponsored the adventure in Fox River Grove on Monday night.

The young people were excited.

"Nobody's been in a balloon this cool. Right now you can just feel the heat coming off of it, and it's super cool," said Rosie Colucci, 8.

"I've never done this before, and it's really just exciting," said Lilly McAfoose, 14.

Monday night's hot air balloon rides are a warm up for the Chicagoland Ride for Kids motorcycle charity event on July 21.
