Guilty plea in 2010 bat attack

A woman charged in connection with the 2010 baseball bat attack in the Bucktown community has pleaded guilty.

Twenty-eight-year-old Marcy Cruz was charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder.

She was sentenced to 11 years for each count.

Cruz and her boyfriend, Heriberto Viramontes, were each charged in the attack that left Stacy Jurich and Natasha McShane badly injured.

McShane was an exchange student visiting from Northern Ireland.

She suffered serious brain injuries.
