That's what a new study of patients already taking aspirin to reduce their chances of getting a heart attack or stroke finds.
The research indicates a significant reduction in the disease and mortality when regular low doses of aspirin are taken.
Still, the American Cancer Society says that doesn't mean otherwise healthy people should start taking it just to prevent colon cancer. Even low doses of aspirin may cause gastrointestinal bleeding.
