Hot chocolate drinkers may have a brain boost

August 7, 2013 (CHICAGO)

According to a new study, drinking hot chocolate may keep older men and women's brains sharp. The Harvard researchers studied 60 adults, about one third of whom had poor blood flow to the brain. Each person studied drank two cups of hot chocolate per day for a month.

Researchers found that those participants showed blood flow improvement and their thinking was faster. There was a nearly 30 percent improvement in memory as well.

Researchers warn, however, that those who want to boost their brains should not "prescribe" themselves candy bars. Unfortunately, most chocolate is loaded with sugar and fat. These are downsides that could outweigh any benefits.
