August 7, 2013 (CHICAGO)

Mayor Rahm Emanuel was on hand Wednesday afternoon as plans for the Chi-Cal Rivers Fund were announced.

"I do believe that the Chicago River is the next recreation frontier for the City of Chicago," said Mayor Emanuel.

Organizers say the public- private partnership will award grants to help improve storm water management, habitat and public uses along waterways.

They're committed to spending $2.4 million over the next three years.
