Vernon Hills man gets 8 years in wife's death over sleep

August 8, 2013 (VERNON HILLS, Ill.)

Ronald Stolberg of Vernon Hills was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter. He admitted holding his wife down on the floor until she stopped struggling.

Both prosecutor and defense attorneys agreed that 54-year-old Rachel Stolberg had a mental breakdown weeks before her death and wouldn't let her husband sleep.

A Lake County jury in May found Ronald Stolberg accidentally killed his wife Rachel after she repeatedly poked him awake in the middle of the night in June 2011.
