Homewood was ranked number three when it comes to best places to live with affordable homes, according to CNN Money.

Homewood is described as a growing community that attracts residents from creative industries, such as musicians, designers and educators.

It also has a nationally recognized school system. Newsweek magazine named Homewood-Flossmoor High School one of America's best high schools.

The median home price is $100,000. Median family income is about $86,000.

Number two is Plano, Illinois. Median home price: $75,000. Median family income: About $65,000.

Coming in number one: Altamonte Springs, Florida. Median home price: $67,000. Median family income: $63,000. Not only do you have beautiful weather, Newsweek writes: homebuyers get a lot of bang for their buck.
