Automated passport kiosks make O'Hare debut

August 15, 2013 (CHICAGO)

That's because it's the first airport in the country with a new automated passport system.

It was officially unveiled Thursday by the city's Department of Aviation and U.S. Customs.

Passengers are now able to use self-service kiosks to scan their own passport and do some paperwork to speed up the time it takes to go through customs.

32 kiosks have been installed.

The system has actually been in place since last month, and officials say it's already a success.
