Disability parking crackdown on handicapped placard violators in Chicago

August 20, 2013 (CHICAGO)

City employees were expected to canvas downtown streets Tuesday, placing fliers that resemble traffic tickets on the cars parked in metered zones.

Vehicles will be checked and notified that they will be subjected to fines if they are improperly using a placard or disability license plate.

Starting January 1, 2014, people with out-of-state parking placards and disability license plates will no longer be exempt from paying parking meter fees.
