Study finds link between alcoholism, eating disorders

August 21, 2013

Researchers studied adult twins in Australia.

They were asked about alcohol use and binge eating.

Roughly 25 percent of the men and 6 percent of the women were alcohol dependent at some time.

Findings show genes were responsible for up to 53 percent of the risk of developing eating disorders like binging and purging.
