Event raises funds for family of boy trapped in dune

September 1, 2013 (ROCK FALLS, Ill.)

The grounds of the Rock River Christian Center were jammed with families enjoying the bounce houses and silent auctions.

The event raised money for the family of Nathan Woessner.

The Woessners have big medical and insurance costs following the boy's rescue from the Mount Baldy Sand Dune which took nearly four hours.

After just two weeks of recovery the boy returned home and his parents say he's doing just fine.

"He's doing wonderful," Greg Woessner said. "He's out there running around, and this is every 6-year-old boy's dream. Running around with all kinds of tractors and friends and games, he's having a blast."

Hundreds of people attended the fundraiser for the Woessners, some of whom had never met the family.
