Native Americans plan to protest Redskins game

September 10, 2013 (GREEN BAY, Wis.)

Press-Gazette Media reports some Native Americans plan to protest during the game because they consider "redskins" a derogatory term.

The Wisconsin Indian Education Association's Mascot and Logo Taskforce plans to a hold a session Friday at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay on the issue. Several members say they also will be at the noon game on Sunday with signs protesting the Washington team's name and logo.

The Oneida Tribe of Indians of Wisconsin is one of the Packers' major sponsors. Tribal business committee member Brandon Stevens says it has taken a position objecting to the Redskins' name but does not plan to participate in the protest.
