Female bishop installed in Chicago church

October 5, 2013 3:49:10 PM PDT
The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America installed its first female presiding bishop.

Reverend Elizabeth Eaton was elected in August.

She supported the denomination's 2009 decision to allow openly gay clergy, a move that cost the church nearly 600,000 members.

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is one of the largest Christian denominations in the country.

Eaton will begin serving her six-year term November 1.
