DePaul student struck with blunt object in Lincoln Park

Around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, the female student was walking westbound on Altgeld near Sheffield while the offender was walking eastbound. The offender then struck the victim in the head with a blunt object and fled eastbound. The victim was taken by ambulance to Illinois Masonic Hospital, where she was treated for a head injury.

The suspect did not try to rob the woman, police said. The university notified the community by sending out an email and posting alerts on the front doors of campus buildings.
