Daley Plaza Christmas Tree on way to Chicago

A 57-foot Colorado spruce that will serve as Chicago's official Christmas tree at Daley Plaza will be cut down.

The tree was donated by the Moore family in South Holland, Ill., and is expected to arrive at Daley Plaza on November 8 around 7 p.m. Preparations will begin almost immediately for the Daley Plaza Christmas tree, which will be lit on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at 5 p.m.

Terri Moore and her daughter, Kirsten, 11, and Taylor, 8, will help Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Santa Claus light the tree at the ceremony. Moore said family and friends suggested they donate the tree.

"This is truly a blessing," Moore said. More than 90 Chicago area residents

Darlene Love will play at the lighting ceremony.
