Making frozen desserts at home is a lot of fun, and it's a great way to make an inexpensive dessert. The problem is that most of the time you need an ice cream machine, and not a lot of homes have them. So instead, try making a coconut granite!

All you need is a freezer. Let's Dish host Chris Koetke has the recipe. You can find more recipes likes this on the Live Well Network.

Recipe for Coconut Granita

30 oz (2 cans) cream of coconut
    4 1/2 cups whole milk
    3 Tablespoons lemon juice

Preparation:

1. Combine all ingredients.

2. Pour mixture into a 9 x 9 glass baking pan and place in freezer. It will take a good 12 hours for it to freeze. Several times as it is freezing, stir it well with a fork.
