Amtrak train from Chicago to Detroit delayed 5 hours

November 18, 2013 (CHICAGO)

The train left Chicago for Detroit just after 6:30 p.m. Sunday, but only made it a short distance before heading back to Union Station. Amtrak spokesperson Steve Kolm says passengers were allowed to leave the train at that time, but were not allowed off while the train was in the yard for safety reasons.

The train returned to the rail yard, where repairs were completed at 12:36 a.m., before making an overnight trip to Detroit.

Amtrak says the cars had lights, heat, food and water while the problem was fixed.
