Calvin Hollins Jr. and Dwayne Kyles were acquitted of involuntary manslaughter charges in connection with the incident in February 2003, but convicted of criminal contempt for violating a judge's order to close the second floor of the nightclub.
They were each sentenced to two years in prison.
On Friday, an appeals court ruled their actions were not the legal cause of the tragedy and ordered a new sentencing.
