The scuffle started after Matthew Johnson, a local school council member, praised the progress Dewey Elementary has been making. He says a regular protester at the meetings began heckling him and then shoved him in the hallway as he stepped outside the meeting.
"An irate community member attacked me outside the board chambers, followed me out, calling me a sellout, things of that nature," Matthew Johnson said.
School officials say a security team brought the confrontation under control quickly. No one was hurt and no one has been charged.
