Some new police officers will soon be hitting Chicago streets as the latest group of recruits graduated Monday.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy congratulated the new officers.

One hundred seven graduated Monday in a ceremony at Navy Pier.

With this class a total of 742 new officers have graduated from the Police Academy this year.

That's many more than have graduated in years and it far exceeds Mayor Emanuel's promise to put 600 new officers on the beat in 2013.
