Nurses banned from wearing cancer shirts; Belleville hospital says t-shirts violate professional policy

November 26, 2013 (BELLEVILLE, Ill.)

Nurses at Memorial Hospital in Belleville were reportedly told they cannot wear pink to encourage a colleague battling the disease.

Last year, Tina O'Conner was diagnosed with breast cancer, which is spreading, and had to quit.

Her fellow nurses had shirts made with this graphic on them to show their support for her.

Hospital officials say the t-shirts violate a policy that the staff look professional.
