The five-year plan being outlined Monday would elevate computer science to a core subject instead of an elective.
It also includes plans to teach students to build computer applications and programs in elementary school.
At least one computer science class would be offered at every high school.
The goal is to provide access to computer science at an earlier age to bridge the digital divide and the gender gap.
